WRITING PROJECT 1:
Landing a Client
Since W231 is a project-based course grounded in providing a real organization with a practical recommendation report, the first task for each student was to reach out to a community partner with a persuasive email that offered the chance to partner with IUPUI students on a 10-week project that would culminate in our presenting a report.
Since there were approximately 20 students and only 4 projects, we all pitched our clients to the class using a brief visual slideshow and voted confidentially on our top three candidates.
Each student prepared two different follow-up emails. One was a message that congratulated the client on being elected as one of the winning projects, the other was a message informing the client that they had not been elected and suggesting alternative next steps.
